$100,000 Call Me Maybe Challenge

Deadline: Apr 9
Eligibility: US
Description:

Cellphones have posed a unique challenge in schools for over a decade—and for today’s pre-teens and teens, these challenges have only gotten more complicated.

While it’s clear that phone management solutions during instructional time are critical, there is no one size fits all solution that will work for every school. Diverse communities warrant diverse, nuanced solutions. And teens deserve to lead, in collaboration with their adult champions, the generation of solutions that will work for them. Because, let’s be honest—aren’t we more likely to embrace and stick with solutions when we’ve had a hand in shaping them?

In response, Young Futures is launching the Call Me Maybe Challenge, inviting ideas to help pre-teens and teens—along with the educators and families who support them—navigate phone use in schools. This challenge will fund solutions that meet schools and student populations where they are, offering actionable models and tangible solutions that work for a given community to enhance learning while reducing the negative impacts of phone use in schools.
